Roger Pride, director of marketing for the Welsh Government, is to lead Cardiff & Co for an initial 18 months when its managing director leaves at the end of next month.
According to Adrian Clark, chairman of Cardiff & Co, Pride’s appointment will help the company build on its successes of the last three years.
“Roger is a highly respected and experienced marketing professional,” he says. “His background in tourism and his close links to the Welsh business community through his work with the Welsh government will be a huge asset for Cardiff & Co.”
Clark adds that an early appointment was important to the company so that there could be a hand-over period before the present managing director, Richard Thomas, takes up his new appointment at BBC Wales.
Pride was director of marketing at the Wales Tourist Board before being appointed director of marketing for the Welsh government when the tourism body became part of a government department. His present role includes marketing across the whole of the Welsh government’s department for business, enterprise, technology and science.
“As an existing board member I already understand the company’s aims and I am looking forward to working to promote the capital city of Wales,” he says. “I have been impressed by the achievements of Cardiff & Co over the last few years and believe the company now has the potential to play an even more important role in the economic success of our city.”
