Second future forum details

21 Feb 2012

The second London Future Forum will take place at this year’s Confex on Wednesday 7 March.

excelLondon & Partners and the Mayor’s Office will host the event which is seeking to continue ongoing engagement with key influencers and stakeholders in the events industry to feedback to local and national government on what London needs to deliver to be a leading events destination.

The London Future Forum will be an invitation only event and will take place on the second day of Confex in front of an exclusive audience of senior agency buyers, exhibition organisers, major event organisers, hotels, associations and key London stakeholders. Leading the debate will be a panel including Kevin Murphy, chief executive, Excel London; Kim Myhre, managing director, George P Johnson; Gordon Innes, CEO, London & Partners; and Ruth Mackenzie, LOCOG director of culture; Clive Little, director of events, OPLC and Richard Foulkes from Imagination. The topic of discussion will be how London can capture the opportunities surrounding the2012 Olympic Games to become a leading events destination.

“Since London’s first International Convention Centre at Excel opened in 2010 we have had the opportunity to stage world class corporate and association congresses, all delivering record breaking attendances, sponsorship and exhibitors,” says Excel MD, David Pegler. “Our growing track record and the staging of the 2012 Olympic Games in London means that now is the perfect time to build a stronger proposition for event organisers in the future and showcase the very best of what London has to offer now and needs to do in the future.  Bringing together the best stakeholders and event industry professionals at Confex will enable London to capture their expertise and thoughts on how London can maximise this once in a lifetime opportunity to ensure a strong events legacy that will further transform London’s reputation.”

Discussions will revisit progress made by London in the last 18 months, focusing on major events, congresses and conventions, culture & industry events, and brand activation / experiential events.

The London Future Forum will take place at International Confex in the South Gallery Rooms, 7 March 2012, 3.30pm – 6.00pm.
