Private dining on the up in Liverpool

14 Sep 2011

Requests for private dining are on the increase according to Liverpool Convention Bureau’s enquiry levels.

Figures comparing 2011 requests with those from 2010 have shown that private dining enquiries, either as standalone events or as part of major conferences, have almost doubled in the last year. Enquires taken between January and June 2011 have increased by 81 per.

Liverpool’s restaurant scene is rapidly expanding. Recent additions include the multi-million pound Eastzeast Indian restaurant on the waterfront, Thai restaurant Chaophraya which offers three private dining rooms and teambuilding cookery masterclasses, as well as two celebrity fronted restaurants - Jamie's Italian and the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill as part of Hotel Indigo.

“There are a number of reasons for the increase,” says Liverpool Convention Bureau manager, Carol O’Reilly. “In some circumstances event organisers are opting for private dining for smaller groups of around 30 supplemented with buffets instead of holding larger gala dinners. In other cases, private dining provides a much more intimate way of networking or adds to the social itinerary of major events held in the city.”
